If anybody planning for a holiday in a calm and quiet place surrounded by nature then thinks about Shillong. The capital city of Indian state Meghalaya is also popular as “Scotland of India”. The place is charming filled with lush green forests, beautiful waterfalls and pleasing hills. Here is a 3 nights and 4 days shillong tour guide.

How to reach:

By train or air, first reach Guawahati . From Guwahati you can avail Taxi to reach Shillong. The distance of Shillong from Guwahati is 100km. An AC taxi will charge Rs 3500 to 4000 depending on the number of seats available. There is also Assam State Transport Corporation organised bus service available from the Guwahati to Shillong. The bus fare is around rs 150 to 200 per person or can get shuttle car service charge rs 300 per person. It will take  4 hours to reach shillong from guwahati.

Day 1: Local Tour


Take a tour of local site seeing. A local Taxi will charge around Rs 3000 to 3500 per day. Wards Lake located in the middle of the city, Wards is an artificial lake surrounded by a beautiful and well maintained garden. The lake is also known as Polok Lake. This lake is one of the very important of the tourist attractions in the city.
Elephant Falls: It’s probably the most tourist spot in shillong. Located at a distance of 12 km from city the area is Upper Shillong within the Easter Air Command of Indian Air force. Basically, it’s a collection of three small falls that combines together and formed a stream.
Shillong Peak: It is the highest peak of the province of Himalayas, situated at an altitude of 1965 meter above the sea level. From peak get a stunning view of the whole  city and Himalayan  Mountain range.
Umiam Lake: Umiam Lake is another popular tourist spot 17km away from city. It resembles to the lakes of Scotland. The beautiful lake was form as a part of building a reservoir. The lake is also known as “Barapani” for its wide spread over an area of 10sq km. Water complex offers a vast range of activities, which includes row boats, paddle boats, cruise boats, sailing boats, water scooters and speed boats.

Day 2:


On day two visit Cherrapunjee. The place is the wettest place on the earth with record rainfall. Its 56km from city. Local cab fare is around Rs.3000 for a day. In Cherrapunjee visit Seven Sisters waterfalls, Nohkalikai falls and Mawsmai Cave.
Seven sisters waterfalls are a seven-segmented falls situated 1km south of Mawsmai village in East Khasi Hills District. The place is famous for its natural beauty.
 Nohkalikai waterfall is the tallest plunge waterfall in India. Its height is 1115 ft.  In down of  falls there is pool with unusual green colored water. Mawsmai cave is one of the best caves of Meghalaya and one major tourist attraction of the state.

Day 3:


  Go to visit Dawki the crystal clear lake and  living root bridge, the brilliant of all the living bridges of the world. The guided trek to visit the double decker living Roots Bridge will take almost 5-6 hrs to go to the destination and returning back to hotel.

Day 4:


 On this day, early in the morning go to visit the cleanest village Mawlynnong in india which is nearly 80km from cherrapunjee. Later in the afternoon return back to city for departure.
